Mission Adoptable

Can you help us in our mission?

Victorian animal shelters are at capacity and have joined forces in ‘Mission Adoptable’, to encourage Victorians to visit their local participating animal shelter to find their new furry family member.

In our aim to find loving homes for as many animals as possible during ‘Mission Adoptable’, GAWS is offering a lower fee on animals adopted between 1-9 October 2022.

Adoption fees 1-9 Oct 2022:

Dogs (excludes puppies)

  • $200 for medium/large adult dogs
  • $250 for small/toy adult dogs
  • $90 for senior dogs

Cats (excludes kittens and special breeds)

  • $69 for adult cats
  • $45 for senior cats.

Rabbits

  • $90 for one
  • $120 for two

GAWS is at capacity with beautiful animals in need of forever homes. We encourage anyone considering adopting a pet, to do so now. We have many dogs, cats and small pets in our care – some who have been with us for months – waiting to go to their forever home.

The usual GAWS adoption procedures will apply during the promotion to ensure animals are matched to the right home. All adoption animals are de-sexed, microchipped, vaccinated and flea & worm treated.

Summary:
  • MISSION ADOPTABLE – GAWS
  • 1-9 October 2022
  • Reduced adoption fees on dogs, cats and rabbits (excludes puppies, kittens and special breeds)
  • Open 7 days a week
  • Geelong Animal Welfare Society - 325 Portarlington Road Moolap

About Mission Adoptable
  • Right now, there are too many animals in Victorian shelters – animals who want and deserve loving homes.
  • To try and get as many animals as possible out of shelters and into their forever homes, Victorian animal shelters are joining forces for Mission Adoptable!
  • Animal shelters across Victoria have joined forces to find forever homes for as many animals as possible. Animal Aid, Bendigo Animal Relief Centre, Cat Protection Society, Geelong Animal Welfare Society, Greyhound Adoption Program, Lost Dogs Home, Lort Smith, RSPCA Victoria and Second Chance Animal Rescue are all taking part in Mission Adoptable.
  • Mission Adoptable will run from 1-9 October 2022, with Victorians encouraged to visit their local participating animal shelter to find their new furry family member.
  • All participating Mission Adoptable shelters are full of beautiful and adoptable animals that urgently need new homes.
  • Animal shelters are operating at capacity for a variety of reasons. These include a decline in adoption applications, an increase in surrenders, more animals with behavioural issues that require retraining prior to adoption, and few reclaims of stray and lost animals.
  • There are many benefits to adopting if you’ve decided to welcome a new furry friend into your life.
  • Not only will you be giving one of the thousands of animals in a shelter a second chance, but you’ll have the chance to make a friend for life. Every animal who comes into a Victorian shelter is there through no fault of their own. Whatever the reason, they all have one thing in common – they need a new home.
  • By adopting an animal from a Victorian animal shelter, you will also be making space for another animal in need of care.
  • Animal shelters work hard with potential adoptees to find the right match for them to ensure animals end up in the best forever home possible. Speak to the staff at your local participating Mission Adoptable shelter about which animal could be the best fit for you.
  • Animals belong in a loving home, not a shelter, where they can become stressed and unwell if they stay too long
