Strays & Lost Pets

If your dog or cat goes missing, it may make its way to GAWS. Our caring team will provide your pet with care until it can be reclaimed. GAWS do everything possible to locate owners and reunite pets. Microchipping and council registration, as well as having identification details on your pet's collar are the best way to ensure we can contact you as soon as possible.

In accordance with the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR) Code of Practice, every animal is health checked as well as vaccinated, treated for fleas and wormed as soon as possible upon arrival.

Each animal in held for a period of eight days before it is behaviour and health assessed. If suitable, the pet is moved into our shelter program for adoption. There are a range of fees that apply when reclaiming your pet.
